This show also provided more realism than lots of other shows of its kind, for example the relationship between the boys & their regular fighting seems much more true to life than other shows that often represent people as constantly loving & everything always patched up by the finish of the show. Home Improvement still has lots of tender moments that are always well acted.

I’ve only recently began to watch Home Improvement in syndication for the first time, & as soon as I got in to it it’s become of my favourite sitcoms. The humoar is very original & the idea was very bright & fresh when it came along on ABC in 1991.
It wasn’t that that made it of the most popular shows of the 90′s, it was also the strengh of the characters. Tim Allen’s portrayel of accident proned chauvanistic tool man Tim Taylor helps make the show along together with his sidekick Al, spouse Jill & babies Brad, Randy & Mark.

So overall, this set is that you ought to definetly add to your collection, whether you need to re-discover the classic first season one time again or watch this show for the first time & introduce it to your relatives who may not have been around then; either way you are most unlikely to be diassapointed! “I don’t think so Tim!”
Highly recommended!

As well as the 24 episodes on this DVD set, you also receive a gag reels of jokes from the show as well as a commentary by the creators. It is lovely to see that lots of these sets now have extras & that the companies are going to the trouble of adding nice touches to the tv shows they know & love.

I liked this show, but the relatives values issues did get on my nerves a lot, & how Jill (the spouse) would always jump down Tim’s back about the littlest things – it appeared.

The neighbor, Wilson, was chilled, always with some wise knowledge for Tim & the others. & this first season, possibly the next , had Pamela Anderson in it as the Device Time girl. Here’s a description of the episodes on this set:

“Pilot” – Tim wrecks the dishwasher, while trying to give it more power; Jill gets a job interview
“Mow Better Blues” – Mark breaks a device of Tim’s, which Jill was told to stay away from
“Off Sides” – Tim hires a magician as a babysitter
“Satellite on a Hot Tim’s Roof” – Tim installs a satellite dish; of Jill’s teachers visits
“Wild Kingdom” – Tim hears some bizarre noises in the basement
“Adventures in Fine Dining” – Tim bets Jill that he can teach their children some table manners
“Nothing More Than Feelings” – Tim tells his Device Time audience that his spouse drove with the oil light on; the other guys say that their wives don’t respect their tools
“Flying Sauces” – The K & B Construction guys show how to make hot gourmet meals while on the job, on Device Time; Brad & Randy tell Mark that Brad, Randy, & their parents are aliens
“Bubble, Bubble, Toil & Trouble” – Tim puts another sink in their bathroom
“Reach Out & Teach Someone” – Tim does a Device Time episode for ladies to teach plumbing; Brad worries that he is going to do bad on a check at school
“Look Who is Not Talking” – At a presentation for the Library Association: Jill gets stage fright
“Yule Better Watch Out” – Tim competes in a neighborhood Christmas light competition; Brad & Randy tell Mark that Santa Claus is dead
“Up Your Alley” – Tim & Jill go bowling; the children get in trouble at a local arcade
“For Whom the Belch Tolls” – Jill doesn’t need an elderly college mate of Tim’s to stick with them
“Forever Jung” – Karen comes to visit; Jill teaches Brad to dance
“Jill’s Birthday” – Tim buys Jill a lifetime membership to a health club; after wasting all their money, Brad & Randy put together a system to get Mark’s money
“What About Bob?” – Tim competes against Bob Vila in a trivia game; Randy pulls a joke on a nerd at school
“Baby, It is Chilled Outside” – Tim’s boss has Tim & Jill go camping to promote some new camping gear. The issue is that they had a romantic weekend planned in lieu
“Unchained Malady” – Tim throws away a chain letter; Randy gets dared to do a trick on his bicycle
“Birds of a Feather Flock to Taylor” – Jill tells Tim that he is a bad listener (happens to me on a regular basis); Brad & Randy try to get Mark to eat a worm
“A Battle of Wheels” – Tim lets Al host Device Time; Tim accidently breaks a quantity of Jill’s pottery
“Luck Be a Taylor Tonight” – Jill’s sister & Al ruin Tim’s poker night
“Al’s Fair in Love & War” – Tim desires to read Jill’s elderly diary; Al tries to ask a girl out
“Stereo-Typical” – Tim & Jill argue over stereo volume

So buy this set, my favourite segments were always the Device Time scenes of the episodes. There ought to be an option of the DVDs to view only the Device Time scenes, oh well.

Home Improvement was on the air at a time when sitcoms were a nice source of bread & butter for network tv. In the coursework of its prime, Home Improvement made its share of money for ABC, as the show appealed to a broad audience, from children to adults.

The entire first season of Home Improvement takes us back to the outset of the show. They meet Tim “The Device Man” Taylor, the host of a local cable home improvement show, his spouse Jill & their children. While much of the show handled the TV show, the prime focus was on the relatives aspect of Tim’s life & the way it affected his work & vice versa.

Patricia Richardson stars as Tim’s spouse Jill. They is the ideal co-star for Allen. While they can stay in the background as they goes off on his antics, they is also able to stepping in to the spotlight with some great jokes of her own. As the only woman in a house filled with males, they finds herself constantly outnumbered, but usually manages to get her way.

Stand-up comic Tim Allen brought the character of Tim Taylor to life. His observations about every day life, along together with his penchant for getting himself in to fine messes, usually involving “more power,” made for some fascinating situations. While Tim is by no means a dull man, they often misinterprets advice given to him by his neighbor Wilson, or the meaning of any number of things that his spouse says. Somehow they always manages to get everything to work out the way it needs to. If only life were so simple.

Zachery Ty Bryan, Jonathan Taylor Thomas & Taran Noah Smith star as the Taylors’ children. Through the years viewers got to watch the children grow & got to see how their parents influenced them as they grew up. Looking back, the children look amazingly young in this first season. It is brilliant how much older they look at the finish of the show. The children have some great moments, chiefly with the older picking on their more youthful sister, but the focus of the show is the relatives, & if the children do something wrong, the parents are there to try to teach them right from wrong.

Richard Karn stars as Al, Tim’s assistant & Earl Hindman stars as Wilson. Both characters provide some great supporting parts & it is fascinating to see all the ways that the show’s powers that be find to hide Wilson face, which is never fully visible. The show also started the career of Pamela Anderson, who was Lisa, the original Device Time girl.

of the show’s producers provide commentary on a few episodes, & the commentary is fascinating & a nice addition to the set. This set is worth the acquisition for somebody who remembers the nice days of tv sitcoms.

If you are a Home Improvement Fan, I recommend you buy this item while it is at such an affordable cost.I desired to buy the entire season for some time now, & having to wait for this set was well worth it.Months ago I was one time thinking about purchasing each season, but the cost for all 8 seasons…plus Shipping & Tax was way over my budget.I noticed this was coming out for half the cost I would have paid & I decided to pre-order back in February & wait.I can tell you this..it was the best Set I ever pre-ordered.The whole series in in a Tool Box case with each season wrapped up individually, as if I bought each season separately in stores.I started watching Season one & will continue all the way to season 8.It is a must own if your a fan of the show & get it why you have a chance.

This review is from: Home Improvement: 20th Anniversary Complete Collection (DVD)
If you are like me, this was a no brainer to buy. I debated for some time before I discovered this collection was coming out if I desired to start purchasing the seasons seperate since I didin’t own any yet, and its been on my check-list for some time now. I also got worn out of seeing Home Improvement being thrown around on TV with bad time slots and decreasing epidodes. This show was a must watch every week in my house when growing up, and its a must have…. and like someone else on here said, get it while the cost is lovely and/or before it goes out of print.

I have watch every show in the set in a week time. (All 8 seasons). It is well worth the money and time I spent to do this.
Pat Richardson is the main reason I wanted it. I loved the shows that had her as the lead for the show. I hope you will enjoy it as much as I did.
